What is ACKMA?
ACKMA is an organization started to raise anorexia awareness. ACKMA stands for "Anorexia can't kick my appetite" It not only helps people currently with anorexia, but it helps prevent anorexia from ever occuring within children and teens. Started by a teen who not only had anorexia, but recovered from it; she hopes to make the percentage of anroexia in the world (which is currently about 15 million in the United States - 5 percent of the United states) go down, extremely down. There is hope for everyone, and recovery is possible.
What do we do?
We, as stated, make sure that anorexia doesn't form by telling and spreading what it really is, monsters. The money collected from donations will go to numerous things. Some percentage of the money will go to families who don't have insurance and can not afford to put their children or themselves into a clinic to get help. Not only that, but the money will also go toward getting more clinics specifically made for anorexia built. A lot of the time, the reason that people are getting recovered from their eating disorder is because of those to reasons - lack of clinics close to them and no insurance.
What can you do?
We, as a charity, work only off of donations we get and profit we earn in our personal lives. So we ask one thing: donate. It may sound greedy, but believe us, it helps millions of children and teens across America. We, as a charity, work only off of donations we get and profit we earn in our personal lives. So we ask one thing: donate. It may sound greedy, but believe us, it helps millions of children and teens across America. There are many ways to donate. You could send a small donation by paypal.
